Irrigation Field Service Manager

Location: Spotsylvania, VA
Job Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $65,000–$85,000+ (Based on Experience) + Performance Bonuses

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Irrigation Field Service Manager to oversee the daily operations of our irrigation service department. This individual will manage service technicians, ensure exceptional customer service, and maintain high-quality workmanship across residential and commercial irrigation systems. This role is ideal for someone who understands both the operational and customer-facing aspects of the service industry and can take ownership of the department while helping it continue to grow.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise irrigation service technicians
  • Ensure service work is completed on time, within budget, and to company standards
  • Conduct field visits to monitor quality, safety, and technician performance
  • Troubleshoot complex irrigation system issues and assist technicians as needed
  • Communicate with customers regarding repairs, recommendations, and project updates
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and develop service technicians
  • Prepare repair estimates and assist with larger proposals as needed
  • Monitor department productivity, efficiency, and profitability
  • Review completed work orders to ensure accuracy and proper documentation
  • Maintain service vehicles for cleanliness, stocked with tool and parts, and report any issues with vehicle performance
  • Enforce company safety protocols and operating procedures
  • Perform field service work, including spring start-ups, winterizations, irrigation repairs, emergency service calls, and other service routes
  • Work closely with management to improve processes, customer satisfaction, and department growth
  • Responsibilities are not limited to the items listed above, as this role may be asked to take on additional tasks as needed to support overall business operations.

Key Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in irrigation service management or a similar leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of irrigation troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, and system upgrades
  • Ability to read irrigation designs and plans
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Valid driver's license (CDL is a plus)
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Experience working with residential and commercial irrigation systems
  • Strong knowledge of submersible pumps, centrifugal pumps, booster pumps, and well systems
  • DPOR-issued Backflow Prevention Device Worker Certification in Virginia
  • Irrigation Association certifications are highly desired

Preferred Skills

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Experience with landscape and drainage projects
  • Familiarity with estimating software and service management software (ServiceMinder preferred)
  • Ability to prepare irrigation repair proposals and system upgrade recommendations
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word & Excel)
  • Experience using AI tools to improve operations, scheduling, estimating, and troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of Rain Bird, Hunter, Toro, and other commercial irrigation systems
